What are the top things someone should consider before working with a Retirement Plan Advisor?

They should look at that person’s dedication to the retirement plan space. Is the advisor someone that has an extensive book of business and is specialized in the space? That’s important to consider.

What’s the biggest overall lesson you learned during your professional journey?

Simply put, this is a business built on relationships. Treat people the way you want to be treated.

Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?

I’m passionate about what I do because people work all their lives so they may retire successfully one day. And to play a part in helping people get to that destination is amazing. It’s really wonderful to have the trust of so many and be able to help them achieve their dreams and goals.

What is the last book you read, for personal and for business?

I recently finished ‘Fierce Conversations: Achieving Success at Work and in Life One Conversation at a Time’, by Susan Scott. I initially chose it for professional development purposes, but quickly realized the concepts hold true across all interactions, both personal and professional.

What is your favorite outside-of-work activity?

I love traveling up to my house in Maine on Moosehead Lake. Boating is a fantastic way to spend the day up there. We are also avid riders of All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The Moosehead area has thousands of miles of trails to explore and we get to see some amazing wildlife. Moose (of course) and bears even!

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?

Personally, I think people need to step outside of their comfort zones more. Don’t live life just going through the motions. Do the unexpected more. Try new things to recharge your life.
